As a conceptual visual artist, I live and work in Friesland, the Netherlands. My work centers examines a diversity of subjects, mostly related to nature and psychology. Form and material play an important role. In 2007, I completed my studies in conceptual art with a focus on three-dimensional visual arts at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Since then, I have developed an art practice from my studio in which research and experimentation are key.

My work consists of autonomous objects, installations, and series that often emerge from in-depth research. Themes such as (collective) memory, emotion, silence, and bodily experience form a continuous thread throughout my practice. What do we preserve – in our bodies, in objects, in landscapes – and what fades away? How can the intangible be made tangible? These questions lie at the heart of my artistic process.

I typically work with textiles, printmaking, ceramic, and paper. The materials I use are often fragile. Through repetition, reduction, or layering, I aim to reveal the essence of a form or idea. Techniques such as monoprint, cyanotype, and manual printing processes, often combined with thread, allow space for chance and process to play an essential role. For me, art is not merely an end result, but a way of thinking, feeling, and connecting.

Als beeldend kunstenaar woon en werk ik in Friesland. Mijn werk bevindt zich op het snijvlak van herinnering, vorm en materialiteit. In 2007 ronde ik de opleiding tot conceptueel kunstenaar af in 3-dimensionale beeldende kunst aan de Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in Den Haag. Sindsdien ontwikkel ik een autonome kunstpraktijk waarin onderzoek en experiment centraal staan.

Mijn werk bestaat uit autonome objecten, installaties en series die vaak voortkomen uit uitvoering onderzoek. Thema’s als collectief geheugen, emotie, stilte en lichamelijke ervaring vormen een rode draad. Wat bewaren we – in ons lichaam, in objecten, in landschappen – en wat verdwijnt? Hoe maak je het ongrijpbare tastbaar? Deze vragen vormen de kern van mijn artistieke proces.

Ik werk doorgaans met textiel, grafiek, druktechnieken, ceramiek en papier. De materialen die ik gebruik zijn vaak kwetsbaar. Door te herhalen, reduceren of stapelen, probeer ik de essentie van een vorm of gedachte zichtbaar te maken. Technieken als monoprint, cyanotype en handmatige drukprocessen in combinatie met garen geven me ruimte om het toeval en het proces een rol te laten spelen. Voor mij is kunst niet alleen een eindresultaat, maar een manier van denken, voelen en verbinden.
